Why I chose this direction

I feel designing for underprivileged kids with childhood obesity problem is very challenging, because of its complex nature and deep social roots. Yet, few products are designed to help those children in a fun way. But with the new technologies like virtual reality and augmented reality, there are more opportunities for us to design some products that can motivate those children to change their habits and behaviors.

What I didn't choose and why

I also concerned about environmental problems, because I was studying landscape architecture and did many projects related to sea level rise and urban resilience. I feel this is a very threatening problem for all of us. But I did come up with an appropriate targeting group of people, or other possible solutions in this process.

Reflection

This experience was very inspiring. It activated my creative thinking and then helped you narrow down to the topic. I won't be able to establish this topic at once without this process. To consider about factors like methods, people, and technologies really helps me to specify my direction. The factors are related very organically after this process. I even generated many possible solutions when I was doing this exercise. I will definitely use this strategy in the future, and can probably add more factors in the list.
