Teach every child about food | Jamie Oliver | TED-Ed
https://www.ted.com/talks/jamie_oliver?language=en

This talk wins the 2010 TED Prize. It is impressive because it really makes me uncomfortable. All those facts, are like giving death sentences, to the future of this country - Jamie hits everyone in the face. But it is glad to know, that people like Jamie are taking actions. I find this talk useful because it brings up simple solutions that don't cost much but make a big difference. I am so surprised that so many children don't know anything about where food comes from. They call tomato potato, call eggplant pear. This is a source problem - many children only eat processed food everyday. There are many factors: their parents are too busy to cook for them at home; schools don't have enough funding to buy healthy food; there are all fast food in the main streets; food companies add sugar, color and other additives in food to attract more customers... And FOOD EDUCATION can help, if we transform children's cognition to food, teach them how to cook and what food is good for health, they don't need to drink the milk that contains 8 teaspoons of sugar, or eat fast food outside. It only takes 6.5 grand per school to teach every kids cooking. There is an organization C.H.O.I.C.E.S. (the Center Helping Obesity In Children End Successfully, Inc.) I did research on also doing free cooking lessons in Atlanta local communities, and it benefits many children. What we can do is to promote this food revolution and get more kids to have food education. I see opportunity from this that we can design interactive virtual classes to cover kids from all around the country, and get them interested in food, again.
